BLOB explores distorted body image. The sculpture is 1.62m high exactly – Catherine’s height – but considerably wider, functioning as a physical manifestation of distorted body image and the fears of occupying space. The audio is only audible when the viewer is standing close to the sculpture, consisting of whispered confessions about living with anorexia and the recovery process – forcing the viewer to feel as though they have intruded on these innermost thoughts and reflections.
